Moxifloxacin ophthalmic solution 0.5% is used
to treat bacterial conjunctivitis.
Moxifloxacin ophthalmic solution is in a class of antibiotics called
fluoroquinolones
It works by killing the bacteria that cause infection
Moxifloxacin ophthalmic is available with a prescription under the
brand name
Vigamox
in a solution formulation
Other brand or generic formulations may also be available
Indications
Conjunctivitis caused by susceptible strains of the
Aerobic gram –positive microorganisms,
Aerobic gram- negative microorganisms and other microorganisms
like Chlamydia trachomatis
A broad spectrum of bacteria is susceptible including, but not limited to
Staphylococcus aureus
Staphylococcus epidermidis
Streptococcus pneumoniae
Haemophilus influenzae
Klebsiella spp
Moraxella catarrhalis
Enterobacter spp
Mycobacterium spp
Bacillus anthracis
Dosage
Instill one drop in the affected eye
3 times a day for 7 days

Side-Effects
(as eye drop)
Decreased visual acuity, dry eye, keratitis,
ocular discomfort, ocular hyperemia, ocular pain, ocular
prurtius, sub- conjunctival hemorrhage, and tearing
Overdosage
An overdose of this medication is unlikely to threaten life

I should know about moxifloxacin ophthalmic
Do not touch the dropper to any surface,
including the eyes or hands,The dropper is sterile.
If it becomes contaminated, it could cause an infection in the eye
Store moxifloxacin ophthalmic at 2ْC-25ْC
away from moisture and heat. Keep the bottle properly capped
Use caution when driving, operating machinery,
or performing other hazardous activities.
Moxifloxacin ophthalmic may cause blurred vision.
If you experience blurred vision, avoid these activities
